TB: still the numbers that matter in India
WHO estimates 10.7 million people fell ill with TB in 2024 and 1.23 million died, including 150,000 among people with HIV. India accounts for 25% of new cases globally, the largest share of any country. Only about 2 in 5 people with multidrug-resistant TB accessed treatment in 2024. Every presumptive case is a chance to test early, including for drug resistance, and to offer preventive treatment to exposed contacts.
