Rational prescribing is fundamental to patient safety.

A recent ban on 16 Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs by the Health Ministry reinforces the importance of evidence-based therapeutics. These FDCs were found to lack therapeutic justification, were deemed irrational or unsafe, and may expose patients to avoidable clinical risks.

This decision serves as a reminder that every drug combination should demonstrate clear clinical benefit, a sound scientific rationale, and a favorable benefit–risk profile before becoming part of routine practice.
